I recently read a couple of blogs that dealt with blogging
and how people should manage and create their blogs. Mommcomm.com is a blog
completely devoted to critiquing other people’s blogs with tips and tricks on
how to get more viewers. Mommcomm is specifically geared toward women bloggers
however and they must fit a certain criteria. If one wants to receive criticism
from Mommcomm you must have a blog with more than 10 posts, and you must
comment on Mommcomm’s blog continuously.
The other blog is more of an informational blog with the
basics of blogging, how to create them and how to make your blog effective.
This blog gave 5 basic tips for critiquing your own blog. These 5 tips included:
1.What is your blog about?
2. Do your colors match what your blog is about?
3. Are your social media profile buttons easy to find?
3. Are your social media profile buttons easy to find?
4. Is your “About” page doing it’s job?
5. Do you write compelling content?
These are only a couple blogs out of several that offer
similar services for critiquing other blogs, the big question I have though is
what makes these blogs more qualified to critique than others? What gives one
person’s opinion of your blog more clout over another person? Is it because
they have more viewers than you or more feedback on their own blogs? Mommcomm’s
blog for critiquing is conducted by a mom blogger with experience in marketing.
Likewise, bloggingbasics.com is conducted by woman with experience in marketing
and has been nationally recognized for her site that provides tips to beginner
to intermediate bloggers.
Blogs base their success off of how many people view them as
well as the comments and feed back they receive from those views. What I think
makes these blogs/sites qualified to offer criticism is their own success and
“know how” regarding blogging. However, I don’t know if these sites necessarily
would help all blog descriptions, which is why Mommcomm is for women bloggers.
In my opinion, not everyone that can have a blog should. There are some blogs
out there that should be more personal blogs rather than public and are not
meant for the public eye. However, knowing these tips and tricks for blogging
before hand would be in the best interest for everyone wanting to be successful
in the blogging world. Everyone could use some sort of critique on his or her
blog and there are so many overly opinionated people willing to do so that we
should let the qualified ones do so.
Interesting thoughts. I think that everyone is entitled to have their opinion, and personally I appreciate people who are willing to be a little more critical. I would take it for what it's worth, and decide whether or not I want to take it into account.
ReplyDeleteWhat's really interesting to me is how the color of your blog needs to match the content, now some people may not think this would affect the way the reader views your blog but honestly, the first impression your blog makes on someone, will determine how successful your blog will be. Excellent post.
